Al Baqarah (Cow Girl)
101
ﻭَﻟَﻤَّﺎ ﺟَﺎۤﺀَﻫُﻢْ ﺭَﺳُﻮْﻝٌ ﻣِّﻦْ ﻋِﻨْﺪِ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ﻣُﺼَﺪِّﻕٌ
ﻟِّﻤَﺎ ﻣَﻌَﻬُﻢْ ﻧَﺒَﺬَ ﻓَﺮِﻳْﻖٌ ﻣِّﻦَ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﺍُﻭْﺗُﻮﺍ
ﺍﻟْﻜِﺘٰﺐَۙ ﻛِﺘٰﺐَ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ﻭَﺭَﺍۤﺀَ ﻇُﻬُﻮْﺭِﻫِﻢْ ﻛَﺎَﻧَّﻬُﻢْ ﻟَﺎ
ﻳَﻌْﻠَﻤُﻮْﻥَۖ
wa lammā jā`ahum rasụlum min 'indillāhi
muṣaddiqul limā ma'ahum nabaża farīqum
minallażīna ụtul-kitāba kitāballāhi warā`a
ẓuhụrihim ka`annahum lā ya'lamụn
And when there came to them a Messenger
(Muhammad) from Allah confirming what was with
them, some of those who were given the Book
(Torah) threw the Book of Allah back (back), as if
they did not know.
102
ﻭَﺍﺗَّﺒَﻌُﻮْﺍ ﻣَﺎ ﺗَﺘْﻠُﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﺸَّﻴٰﻄِﻴْﻦُ ﻋَﻠٰﻰ ﻣُﻠْﻚِ
ﺳُﻠَﻴْﻤٰﻦَ ۚ ﻭَﻣَﺎ ﻛَﻔَﺮَ ﺳُﻠَﻴْﻤٰﻦُ ﻭَﻟٰﻜِﻦَّ ﺍﻟﺸَّﻴٰﻄِﻴْﻦَ
ﻛَﻔَﺮُﻭْﺍ ﻳُﻌَﻠِّﻤُﻮْﻥَ ﺍﻟﻨَّﺎﺱَ ﺍﻟﺴِّﺤْﺮَ ﻭَﻣَﺎٓ ﺍُﻧْﺰِﻝَ
ﻋَﻠَﻰ ﺍﻟْﻤَﻠَﻜَﻴْﻦِ ﺑِﺒَﺎﺑِﻞَ ﻫَﺎﺭُﻭْﺕَ ﻭَﻣَﺎﺭُﻭْﺕَ ۗ ﻭَﻣَﺎ
ﻳُﻌَﻠِّﻤٰﻦِ ﻣِﻦْ ﺍَﺣَﺪٍ ﺣَﺘّٰﻰ ﻳَﻘُﻮْﻟَﺎٓ ﺍِﻧَّﻤَﺎ ﻧَﺤْﻦُ
ﻓِﺘْﻨَﺔٌ ﻓَﻠَﺎ ﺗَﻜْﻔُﺮْ ۗ ﻓَﻴَﺘَﻌَﻠَّﻤُﻮْﻥَ ﻣِﻨْﻬُﻤَﺎ ﻣَﺎ
ﻳُﻔَﺮِّﻗُﻮْﻥَ ﺑِﻪٖ ﺑَﻴْﻦَ ﺍﻟْﻤَﺮْﺀِ ﻭَﺯَﻭْﺟِﻪٖ ۗ ﻭَﻣَﺎ ﻫُﻢْ
ﺑِﻀَﺎۤﺭِّﻳْﻦَ ﺑِﻪٖ ﻣِﻦْ ﺍَﺣَﺪٍ ﺍِﻟَّﺎ ﺑِﺎِﺫْﻥِ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ۗ
ﻭَﻳَﺘَﻌَﻠَّﻤُﻮْﻥَ ﻣَﺎ ﻳَﻀُﺮُّﻫُﻢْ ﻭَﻟَﺎ ﻳَﻨْﻔَﻌُﻬُﻢْ ۗ ﻭَﻟَﻘَﺪْ
ﻋَﻠِﻤُﻮْﺍ ﻟَﻤَﻦِ ﺍﺷْﺘَﺮٰﻯﻪُ ﻣَﺎ ﻟَﻪٗ ﻓِﻰ ﺍﻟْﺎٰﺧِﺮَﺓِ ﻣِﻦْ
ﺧَﻠَﺎﻕٍ ۗ ﻭَﻟَﺒِﺌْﺲَ ﻣَﺎﺷَﺮَﻭْﺍ ﺑِﻪٖٓ ﺍَﻧْﻔُﺴَﻬُﻢْ ۗ ﻟَﻮْ
ﻛَﺎﻧُﻮْﺍ ﻳَﻌْﻠَﻤُﻮْﻥَ
wattaba'ụ mā tatlusy-syayāṭīnu 'alā mulki
sulaimān, wa mā kafara sulaimānu wa
lākinnasy-syayāṭīna kafarụ yu'allimụnan-
nāsas-siḥra wa mā unzila 'alal-malakaini
bibābila hārụta wa mārụt, wa mā yu'allimāni
min aḥadin ḥattā yaqụlā innamā naḥnu
fitnatun fa lā takfur, fa yata'allamụna min-
humā mā yufarriqụna bihī bainal-mar'i wa
zaujih, wa mā hum biḍārrīna bihī min aḥadin
illā bi`iżnillāh, wa yata'allamụna mā
yaḍurruhum wa lā yanfa'uhum, wa laqad
'alimụ lamanisytarāhu mā lahụ fil-ākhirati
min khalāq, wa labi`sa mā syarau bihī
anfusahum, lau kānụ ya'lamụn
And they followed what the demons read in the
time of Solomon's reign. Solomon was not an
infidel but the demons were infidels, they taught
magic to people and what was sent down to the
two angels in the land of Babylon, namely Harut
and Marut. Though they did not teach anything to
anyone before saying, "Indeed, we are only a trial
(for you), so do not disbelieve." So they learn from
them what separates a man from his wife. They
will not be able to harm anyone with their magic
except with the permission of Allah. They learn
something that is harmful, and does not benefit
them. And indeed, they already know, whoever buys
(uses magic), will certainly not gain in the
hereafter. And verily, very evil are the deeds of
those who sell themselves by magic, if they only
knew.
103
ﻭَﻟَﻮْ ﺍَﻧَّﻬُﻢْ ﺍٰﻣَﻨُﻮْﺍ ﻭَﺍﺗَّﻘَﻮْﺍ ﻟَﻤَﺜُﻮْﺑَﺔٌ ﻣِّﻦْ ﻋِﻨْﺪِ
ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ﺧَﻴْﺮٌ ۗ ﻟَﻮْ ﻛَﺎﻧُﻮْﺍ ﻳَﻌْﻠَﻤُﻮْﻥَ
walau annahum āmanụ wattaqau
lamaṡụbatum min 'indillāhi khaīr, lau kānụ
ya'lamụn
And if they believe and ward off (evil), the reward
from Allah would be better, if they only knew.
104
ﻳٰٓﺎَﻳُّﻬَﺎ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﺍٰﻣَﻨُﻮْﺍ ﻟَﺎ ﺗَﻘُﻮْﻟُﻮْﺍ ﺭَﺍﻋِﻨَﺎ ﻭَﻗُﻮْﻟُﻮﺍ
ﺍﻧْﻈُﺮْﻧَﺎ ﻭَﺍﺳْﻤَﻌُﻮْﺍ ﻭَﻟِﻠْﻜٰﻔِﺮِﻳْﻦَ ﻋَﺬَﺍﺏٌ ﺍَﻟِﻴْﻢٌ
yā ayyuhallażīna āmanụ lā taqụlụ rā'inā wa
qụlunẓurnā wasma'ụ wa lil-kāfirīna 'ażābun
alīm
O you who believe! Do not say, raa'inaa, but say,
"Unzhurnaa" and listen. And those who disbelieve
will have a painful punishment.
105
ﻣَﺎ ﻳَﻮَﺩُّ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﻛَﻔَﺮُﻭْﺍ ﻣِﻦْ ﺍَﻫْﻞِ ﺍﻟْﻜِﺘٰﺐِ ﻭَﻟَﺎ
ﺍﻟْﻤُﺸْﺮِﻛِﻴْﻦَ ﺍَﻥْ ﻳُّﻨَﺰَّﻝَ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻜُﻢْ ﻣِّﻦْ ﺧَﻴْﺮٍ ﻣِّﻦْ
ﺭَّﺑِّﻜُﻢْ ۗ ﻭَﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ ﻳَﺨْﺘَﺺُّ ﺑِﺮَﺣْﻤَﺘِﻪٖ ﻣَﻦْ ﻳَّﺸَﺎۤﺀُ ۗ
ﻭَﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ ﺫُﻭ ﺍﻟْﻔَﻀْﻞِ ﺍﻟْﻌَﻈِﻴْﻢِ
mā yawaddullażīna kafarụ min ahlil-kitābi wa
lal-musyrikīna ay yunazzala 'alaikum min
khairim mir rabbikum, wallāhu yakhtaṣṣu
biraḥmatihī may yasyā`, wallāhu żul-
faḍlil-'aẓīm
Those who disbelieve from the People of the Book
and the polytheists do not wish that any good will
be revealed to you from your Lord. But in particular
Allah gives His mercy to whom He wills. And Allah
is the owner of a great bounty.
106
۞ ﻣَﺎ ﻧَﻨْﺴَﺦْ ﻣِﻦْ ﺍٰﻳَﺔٍ ﺍَﻭْ ﻧُﻨْﺴِﻬَﺎ ﻧَﺄْﺕِ ﺑِﺨَﻴْﺮٍ
ﻣِّﻨْﻬَﺎٓ ﺍَﻭْ ﻣِﺜْﻠِﻬَﺎ ۗ ﺍَﻟَﻢْ ﺗَﻌْﻠَﻢْ ﺍَﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ ﻋَﻠٰﻰ ﻛُﻞِّ
ﺷَﻲْﺀٍ ﻗَﺪِﻳْﺮٌ
mā nansakh min āyatin au nunsihā na`ti
bikhairim min-hā au miṡlihā, a lam ta'lam
annallāha 'alā kulli syai`ing qadīr
Verses that We cancel or remove from memory,
We will surely replace them with better ones or
comparable to them. Don't you know that Allah has
power over all things?
107
ﺍَﻟَﻢْ ﺗَﻌْﻠَﻢْ ﺍَﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ ﻟَﻪٗ ﻣُﻠْﻚُ ﺍﻟﺴَّﻤٰﻮٰﺕِ ﻭَﺍﻟْﺎَﺭْﺽِ ۗ
ﻭَﻣَﺎ ﻟَﻜُﻢْ ﻣِّﻦْ ﺩُﻭْﻥِ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ﻣِﻦْ ﻭَّﻟِﻲٍّ ﻭَّﻟَﺎ ﻧَﺼِﻴْﺮٍ
a lam ta'lam annallāha lahụ mulkus-samāwāti
wal-arḍ, wa mā lakum min dụnillāhi miw
waliyyiw wa lā naṣīr
Don't you know that Allah has the kingdom of the
heavens and the earth? And there is no protector
and helper for you but Allah.
108
ﺍَﻡْ ﺗُﺮِﻳْﺪُﻭْﻥَ ﺍَﻥْ ﺗَﺴْـَٔﻠُﻮْﺍ ﺭَﺳُﻮْﻟَﻜُﻢْ ﻛَﻤَﺎ ﺳُﻯِٕﻞَ
ﻣُﻮْﺳٰﻰ ﻣِﻦْ ﻗَﺒْﻞُ ۗﻭَﻣَﻦْ ﻳَّﺘَﺒَﺪَّﻝِ ﺍﻟْﻜُﻔْﺮَ
ﺑِﺎﻟْﺎِﻳْﻤَﺎﻥِ ﻓَﻘَﺪْ ﺿَﻞَّ ﺳَﻮَﺍۤﺀَ ﺍﻟﺴَّﺒِﻴْﻞِ
am turīdụna an tas`alụ rasụlakum kamā
su`ila mụsā ming qabl, wa may yatabaddalil-
kufra bil-īmāni fa qad ḍalla sawā`as-sabīl
Or do you ask your Messenger (Muhammad) as
Moses was asked (Children of Israel) before?
Whoever replaces faith with disbelief, then indeed,
he has strayed from the straight path.
109
ﻭَﺩَّ ﻛَﺜِﻴْﺮٌ ﻣِّﻦْ ﺍَﻫْﻞِ ﺍﻟْﻜِﺘٰﺐِ ﻟَﻮْ ﻳَﺮُﺩُّﻭْﻧَﻜُﻢْ ﻣِّﻦْۢ
ﺑَﻌْﺪِ ﺍِﻳْﻤَﺎﻧِﻜُﻢْ ﻛُﻔَّﺎﺭًﺍۚ ﺣَﺴَﺪًﺍ ﻣِّﻦْ ﻋِﻨْﺪِ ﺍَﻧْﻔُﺴِﻬِﻢْ
ﻣِّﻦْۢ ﺑَﻌْﺪِ ﻣَﺎ ﺗَﺒَﻴَّﻦَ ﻟَﻬُﻢُ ﺍﻟْﺤَﻖُّ ۚ ﻓَﺎﻋْﻔُﻮْﺍ
ﻭَﺍﺻْﻔَﺤُﻮْﺍ ﺣَﺘّٰﻰ ﻳَﺄْﺗِﻲَ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ ﺑِﺎَﻣْﺮِﻩٖ ۗ ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ
ﻋَﻠٰﻰ ﻛُﻞِّ ﺷَﻲْﺀٍ ﻗَﺪِﻳْﺮٌ
wadda kaṡīrum min ahlil-kitābi lau
yaruddụnakum mim ba'di īmānikum kuffārā,
ḥasadam min 'indi anfusihim mim ba'di mā
tabayyana lahumul-ḥaqq, fa'fụ waṣfaḥụ ḥattā
ya`tiyallāhu bi`amrih, innallāha 'alā kulli
syai`ing qadīr
Many of the People of the Book wish that they
could return you after you have believed, become
disbelievers again, because of envy in them, after
the truth is clear to them. So forgive and be
generous, until Allah gives His command. Verily,
Allah is almighty over all things.
110
ﻭَﺍَﻗِﻴْﻤُﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﺼَّﻠٰﻮﺓَ ﻭَﺍٰﺗُﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﺰَّﻛٰﻮﺓَ ۗ ﻭَﻣَﺎ
ﺗُﻘَﺪِّﻣُﻮْﺍ ﻟِﺎَﻧْﻔُﺴِﻜُﻢْ ﻣِّﻦْ ﺧَﻴْﺮٍ ﺗَﺠِﺪُﻭْﻩُ ﻋِﻨْﺪَ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ۗ
ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ ﺑِﻤَﺎ ﺗَﻌْﻤَﻠُﻮْﻥَ ﺑَﺼِﻴْﺮٌ
wa aqīmuṣ-ṣalāta wa ātuz-zakāh, wa mā
tuqaddimụ li`anfusikum min khairin tajidụhu
'indallāh, innallāha bimā ta'malụna baṣīr
And perform the prayer and pay the zakat. And
whatever good you do for yourselves, you shall find
it with Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seer of what you do.
